SoftShoeStyle has an intuitive hierarchy.
Set up a Line
This can be a season, promotional period (Back-to-School, FFANY, GDS Dusseldorf, WSA) or a particular customer.
Set up a Plan
This means the targets. Number of Styles, projected volumes, price points, estimated margin and launch dates.
Build your Spec, and...
This is where you start building the Spec. But SoftShoeStyle does not limit the Spec sheet to the Bill of Materials and a couple of JPGs. In SoftShoeStyle, all information about a product by consolidated in a single location yet accessible to all. SoftShoeStyle extends the concept of Product Information beyond descriptive items like Construction, Upper Materiel and Last to include:
- Line Planning: a hierarchical view UP to projected FOB, volumes, launch dates and margins.
- Plan (Product Brief): a constant link to the target and inspiration for the Style
- Materials and Components: add components and materials on the fly, re-use them for other Specs
- Graphics: A Bill of Materials goes only so far, you may need to support the Spec with callouts, line drawings, sketches, photos of print samples, logo details, pattern cutting and stitching details.
- Blog: style-level blogging lets you create a communications thread at the style-level, rather than in disjointed and combined e-mails discussions.
- Finance: Link a quick roll-up of projected cost
- Calendar and Events: Integrated calendar is updated when events are updated at the Style-level

This is a cascading view of various screens starting from the main dashboard of SoftShoeStyle where the 2010 Fall/Winter Studs Line Folder is opened, a Plan called Platforms and then a specific Style called Sabrina. For each Style defined in the system, there are supporting functions for Blogging, doing estimated Margin Analysis, planning and tracking milestones, viewing plans as well as sample requests made for that particular style. Below you will see the Blog opened.

Here you have the a Plan called Platforms with various Marketing and Product Details about this new design theme or collection in this case. Within Plan, merchandisers, designers and/marketing can capture product brief details, sketches, design inspirations, etc.

From a Plan, you can create any number of Style records. Style ID's, status, colorways, components, materials and their suppliers can be captured. Shoe sketches, outsole CAD drawings and other images can be captured here. There are also supporting functions for Blogging, doing estimated Margin Analysis, planning and tracking milestones, viewing plans as well as sample requests made for that particular style.

Here is the screen for doing estimated margins.

And a close up of Blogging which can include not just text but image sharing.
